Paula Entin, born at the tail end of the baby boom in suburban Boston, is a fiber artist based in Fairview, NC. Introduced to art early through museum and gallery visits with her parents, she learned drawing from her father and still begins her work by sketching ideas on graph paper with colored pencils.

She holds a B.A. in French Language and Literature and a Master’s in Library Science. Her artistic path began with a summer quilting class, which led her to explore fiber art. Her mother taught her sewing, knitting, and embroidery, and got hooked on quilting five years after Paula started. They enjoyed helping each other when artistic challenges arose.

During the mid-1980s, as art quilts gained recognition, Entin developed a distinctive style that moved beyond traditional patterns. Her work incorporates diverse fabrics and unconventional materials, reflecting her belief that quilts can transcend their traditional roles, encouraging viewers to see fiber art from a different perspective.

She is active in arts organizations and quilt groups, enjoying the connections and conversations about art, quilts, and where the two worlds overlap.
